How to Connect the Fermentation Hub to Wi-Fi [w/ Video]

Requirements

  1. Wi-Fi enabled computer, tablet, or smartphone
  2. Your company's Wi-Fi network and password (Network must be 2.4G.  The SensorHub cannot connect to 5G networks)
  3. Wi-Fi Port 8883 needs to be open and available
  4. A power outlet

Setting up Wi-Fi

  1. Plug in the Fermentation Hub (formerly SensorHub) to a power outlet
    1. The LED light surrounding the button on the front of the Fermentation Hub will illuminate red. Hold down the button for 3-5 seconds, until the light turns yellow and starts to blink. This means the Fermentation Hub has entered Provisioning Mode and is now broadcasting a Wi-Fi access point that you can connect to. More details LED Light/Button Reference Guide
    2. This access point is named: BMSH-XXXXXXXXXXXX, with the X’s representing the code listed on the white sticker on the right side of the SensorHub.
  2. On your Wi-Fi enabled computer, tablet, or smartphone, open the wireless network menu and search for and connect to BMSH-XXXXXXXXXXXX
  3. When prompted for a password, input brewmaster (case-sensitive)
    1. If the Wi-Fi access point does not appear in the menu:
      1. Exit your wireless network menu, then reload it again.  Wait for 5-10 seconds and it should pop up
      2. Ensure the LED light is blinking yellow.  If it is not, please go back to step 1.1 above
  4. Open a web browser and enter the following address: "http://192.168.4.1/".  This will take you to the Fermentation Hub's "Set Up Wi-Fi" page.
  5. Select your company’s Wi-Fi network from the Select Network Name (SSID) drop-down. Enter the Wi-Fi password.
    1. If the Wi-Fi network is hidden, select ‘Other’ from the SSID drop-down and enter the Wi-Fi network name.
    2. If you are on an enterprise network and use DHCP, select 'Other' from the SSID drop-down and then select Enterprise
      1. Enter your company’s Wi-Fi network in the SSID field and enter your Wi-Fi username and password in the associated fields below
    3. Personal and enterprise networks using static settings may enter those by clicking ‘Advanced’. Note: all fields will need to be specified
  6. Click TEST CONNECTION button
    1. This will alert you to any issues with the entered credentials.  If everything is correct, the LED light on the Fermentation Hub will turn green
  7. Click SAVE SETTINGS button to complete the Wi-Fi setup
